LEICESTER, Mass. — This Valentine's Day, Sen. Michael Moore, State Rep. John Binienda and Leicester Selectmen are sponsoring a special brunch for veterans and seniors at the Leicester Senior Center, and couples and singles alike are invited to come join the feast.
"This is the first time this has been done," said Council on Aging director Rachelle Cyr-Cloutier, who explained that the idea for the event came about last year when the Senior Center hosted its first Veterans Day breakfast in the Fall.
At the successful event honored local veterans and had 145 residents coming in to enjoy the meal cooked up by town officials and served by Leicester Middle School volunteers
Furthermore, while attending the brunch, selectman Tom Buckley, Binienda and Moore decided they wanted to do something special for the veterans and seniors on Valentine's Day as well.
"This is not your ordinary breakfast that we have here once a month," said Cloutier. "It's going to be quite a bruch, with ham and eggs and potatoes. It's going to be a nice day to celebrate Valentine's Day."
Leicester resident and active volunteer Harry Brooks will be doing the cooking for the event,
The Valentine's Day Veterans and Senior Breakfast will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m on Feb. 14 at 10 a.m.
Those interested in attending should call the Senior Center at 508-892-7014 ahead of time. The menu for this Valentine’s day brunch includes: Ham, Roast Beef, Scrambled Eggs, Veggies, Roasted Potatoes, Fruit, Juice, etc.
