WORCESTER, Mass — The victim of the fatal pedestrian accident that occurred on Sunday Fe. 12 has been identified as 69 year old Marie Berard of Worcester.
On Sunday, at approximately 6:40 PM Worcester Police responded to 564 Southwest Cutoff for a report of a pedestrian accident.
Upon police arrival they met the 17 year old driver from Leicester who was operating his 1999 Chevrolet Pick-up truck that struck the 69 year old female victim from Worcester.
The accident occurred as the operator was driving eastbound in the area of the 564 Southwest Cutoff, and Berard was attempting to cross the road from the north to south side; she was struck in the middle of the right lane of the eastbound lane.
The victim received life threatening injuries, and the Worcester Fire Department along with Worcester EMS responded and treated her.
She was then transported to U-Mass Medical center (University Campus) where she was pronounced dead shortly after her arrival.
The Worcester Police Accident Reconstruction Team responded to the scene and is currently investigating this incident. The pick-up truck was towed to police headquarters to be examined. This investigation is ongoing.
There were no citations issued at this time. The Worcester Police Traffic Accident Reconstruction Team continues to investigate this incident.
